It’s with excitement that artist Katheryn Trenshaw will be hosting the first screening of her documentary In Your Own Skin at the Totnes Cinema on the Monday 7th of November. The film is part of the In Your Own Skin Project; a world-wide art project inviting authenticity and happiness, connecting us all by revealing our hidden truths.

In the film, video portraits capture the unique moment when a person shares a secret, summarized in a long-hidden word or phrase that is then painted onto their skin. Each of these powerful moments releases a generous contribution to the world, a buoyant reminder of living fully and the beauty and strength that comes from facing and embracing our vulnerability.

“Katheryn Trenshaw’s In Your Own Skin Project confirms my faith in deep essential human beauty and the innate benevolence in us all. It is an inspiring
visual anthem to humanity.”

— Jamie Catto, musician and film-maker. Creator of dance music super-group Faithless, Grammy award winning 1 Giant Leap, and film What About Me

Breast cancer matters for every woman because 1 out of every 8 women is affected during her lifetime. Breast cancer is the highest cause of death for women under 50. The bad news is that we don’t know much about the cause of the disease and therefore too little about its prevention. The good news is that, thanks to massive advances in the health sector, there can be complete healing with the available medical and complementary therapies in 70-80% of all cases and a longer disease-free lifespan in the whole population. And by integrating well-being lifestyle changes and small steps we can increase our vitality and quality of life, so that no matter what our situation, we can live a wild and precious life now.

Ulrike Schöneck, born 1958 is a dedicated women’s doctor and Gynecologist since 1983. She worked for 10 years in a large urban hospital. Since then she has dedicated her work to a private all-women group practice in Berlin. She’s focuses mainly on early detection, ultrasound and medical support, guidance and counselling after primary clinical cancer treatments (operation, radiation & chemo) in hospital. She has accompanied many hundreds of women through the maze and wonder of living through and with breast cancer. She specialises in women’s health issues and is also certified in psychosomatic health. Her long- term personal work in Qi Gong, expressive movement and meditation also significantly inform her approach as an integrative doctor in Germany where the recovery from cancer is the highest in Europe.

Dying to Live by the Numbers: A Work in Progress

We invite you to join us for this 35 minute performance piece which provides insight into one woman’s encounter with cancer (the big C), and addresses these questions:

  • We all know we are going to die. But do we really believe it?

  • Could a sudden brush with mortality bring us closer to life and love?

“I laughed and cried and learned so much. I caught a glimpse from the inside of the ‘living well with cancer’ life. This is a must see for everyone.”
    -Peter Scott-Choir Director

“Helpful to understand better anyone who’s dealing with cancer. Truthful and celebratory of life in the midst of challenges.”
-Agata krajewska, Theatre of Awakening director

"As confronting the taboo of death becomes increasingly necessary at both macro and micro levels -- from being in the 6th mass extinction to 1 in 2 of us getting cancer -- we are seeing the rise of death cafes and books on conscious dying. Katheryn Trenshaw's witty, provocative and moving piece contributes to this growing dialogue 'Dying to Live... by the Numbers' speaks to the zeitgeist of our time."

'Rise Up' Climate Change Music Video

This Extraordinary multi-cultural efforts that went into the creation of this RISE UP Dance Track Music Video began last year in the wee hours of the morning with Steph Johnson, Rob Thorson, Peter Scott and Katheryn Trenshaw in front of a woodburning stove in Totnes, Devon UK. Pete, working on the anti-fracking campaign brought some rough lyrics, threw them out for input and this song was born with a little input from all of us, but mainly with Steph Johnson's genius. The world class musicians who then took part in the recording and production, volunteered their precious time and energy and genius for the cause.
Arthur Cauty's brilliant drone footage and direct action footage and Eb Harvey did her magical editing magic as well. I am so proud to have been a part of this process and hope that this track will be a call to us all to take a stand for what we love and value... and also just for LOVE. Enjoy!
